Indie Tools

I’ve decided to start building a little bit of an indie corner on my website. So far it consists of historical fiction keywords and an extensive list of hashtags that might be handy for indie authors to use on their social media posts.

As with everything I do, I will slowly and steadily build that section up over time. If there is anything that you as an indie author would like advice on or think should be included, please feel free to send me a message on my contact page.

My Indie Bookshelf

Hey everyone! First post of 2024 and my first post since moving back to the UK! I had no idea I hadn’t kept up to date on my move, though I’m not surprised, I’m very bad at blogging. Unfortunately, it has been absolutely crazy these past few months. We are glad to be here, the kids are settling in perfectly, but it has been quite a rollercoaster.

I don’t want to dwell on any of that now. I want to share with you some positive news!

Today I uploaded my books onto “My Indie Bookshelf”. MIB is a website compiled of solely independently published books. It also has a database listing cover artists, editors, proofreaders, layout and typesetting specialists, and indie publishers – every service an indie author needs neatly organised in one spot!

One cool detail about MIB is the “For Fans Of” section. There are a couple of interactive options on the book pages. There is a space to add four or five images of books, films, albums, etc, that you feel readers of your books might be fans of. These options will help give possible readers a more informed idea of whether they want to read the books or not.

Which books, movies, music, etc, do you think readers of the Danethrall Trilogy might be fans of?

Website Revamp

Hey everyone! I hope you’re all having a lovely spring (or autumn, depending on where you are). Just a little update I wanted to share with you. In between furiously typing away at far too many stories at the same time, I did a cheeky revamp of the website. Not huge, just changed the colour scheme a little, but I love it, it’s a lot warmer than the previous design.

Summer is coming ever closer, and a lot of travel is in the cards for me! Do you have any nice plans for the summer?

Bookmarks!

Hello everyone! I posted this on my Instagram page and I thought I’d post it here as well. I thought I’d give an update about what I’ve been doing recently in the literary realm.

Writing has not been top of my list of things to do recently, unfortunately. On the rare moment I do sit down to type, I’ve been working on a lot of different ideas, not anything I’m ready to share yet, though. Honestly, I keep jumping from one WIP to the other so I’m really not getting a lot of anything done, haha.

Recently I made these cute bookmarks and ordered some of them from VistaPrint. I’m excited to see how they turn out. I figured if the writing isn’t coming to me, I could at least do a touch of marketing stuff. I’ll pop these in some of the local shops and see if anything comes of it.😆

Regarding the Trilogy, Danethrall is up to a whopping 29 ratings! It’s sitting quite nicely at 4.5 stars out of 5.😍 Rise To Fall has 3 ratings at 4.6 stars out of 5, and Ashes Remain also has 3 ratings at flipping 5 stars out of 5!!🤩

If you haven’t already posted a review or rating, I kindly ask you to.❤️ Each review/rating helps so much to get the books out there. When each book hits 50 ratings/reviews, Amazon’s algorithm starts promoting and advertising the books, so every rating/review counts.

Anyway, that’s it for now. I’ll post some pictures of the bookmarks when they arrive. Fingers crossed they turn out alright!

Update :)

Wow! It’s been a whopping ten months since I last posted here. I apologise for leaving you in the dark for almost a year! There are three posts from April, May, and August saved in my drafts folder that I never got around to finishing (one that will most probably never see the light of day), but I am here today to share the links to my social media accounts that I don’t regularly update either, haha. You can click on the links below to be taken directly to the pages. 🙂

As for life updates, it’s been an absolutely miserable year. I’ve written a smattering of sentences and completed none of the projects I’ve started. One of the incomplete posts saved in my draft folder (dated 19th April) is titled “Next on the Horizon”. As you can imagine, it’s all about a project I started a couple months after Ashes Remain was published. It’s been a difficult year, again, and I’m glad to see the end of it. I intend to be reserved about the future considering the last couple years of chaos but do know that I am still writing despite it all, it’s just taking a while, haha.
